CWM Global Search Web installation notes/ReadMe


1) Supported Browsers

On Windows platforms the following Browsers are supported :

  • Internet Explorer version 8
  • Mozilla Firefox version 3.6.3
  • On Macintosh platforms the following Browsers are supported

  • Safari version 4.0.5
  • 2) Installation notes

    1. CWM Global Search Web requires that the Microsoft Silverlight Plug-In version 3 is installed in your Browser.

    The presence of the Plug-In will be checked when the application start page is opened.
    If the Silverlight Plug-In is not installed in your Browser the following page will be displayed :

    Please click the 'Install Silverlight Plug-In 3.0' link to install Silverlight Plug-In version 3.0 in your Browser. After click on the install link , depending on your Browser , either run the installer or save the installer file to disk and run it afterwards.
    Important: If you choose to save the installer to disk, make sure to use a download directory where you have the appropriate rights to save and execute the installer file.

    Note: As for any other Plug-In the installation does require admin privileges.

    As for any other Plug-In's it can be disabled or uninstalled at any time.

    2. Java runtime required on local computer.

    CWM GlobalSearch Web is using a Java Applet to render/edit chemical structures.
    In order to use this Applet , Java runtime must be present on your computer.

    You can use the following URL to test if Java runtime is installed properly on your computer:

    The following page will be displayed:

    Click the 'Verify Java version' button to start the verification process.

    If Java is installed correctly you should see the following screen:

    If the verification fails, please follow the instructions given by Sun Microsystems to fix the problem.

    3. Enable JavaScript in your Browser.

    You can use the following link to get detailed instructions on how to verify/enable JavaScript in the major Browsers on Windows platforms:

    3) Known issues/limitations

    1. The structure renderer width and height is not automatically adjusted when the Browser window gets resized using Mozilla Firefox or Safari.
      Please click the 'Scale to fit' button after Browser window resize operations. This will adjust the width/height of the structure renderer.
